Ben Harben's Bubblegum Society

FAQ

How long will the portraits last?
All portraits have been coated with two part epoxy resin to ensure the life of the bubblegum. However, the resin does not guarantee the life of the image. Some decomposition will occur throughout the years much like our memory of the reality television stars.

What type of gum do you chew?
Mainly 1 inch gum balls.

Do you color the gum at all?
I do NOT use food coloring nor paint to color the gum. Some gum colors may be combined with others to produce different shades.

How many pieces of gum does it take to produce a 8"×10" portrait?
Approximately, 30 to 40 1 inch gum balls.

Do you chew your own gum?
Most of the time. However, my wife and friends help often.

How many fillings do you have?
I currently have 7 fillings. Two of which were filled after producing the first dozen Bubblegum Society members.

How long have you been making bubblegum art?
My first bubblegum picture was made in 1998 as an experimental project for a college design course.

Would you make a custom portrait for me?
Sure. Please visit the contact page. I have been commissioned to chew portraits, family pets and even office buildings.
